Challenge

Oxford University Press South Africa needed a prototype of a platform that would help children improve some of their basic English language and comprehension skills before advancing to a higher grade. This was specifically aimed at children who do not have English as their home language.

Solution

We developed a prototype using gamification (online quizzes, tests, games, etc.) where children can gather points to help them advance to the next level. This keeps them motivated and entertained, while improving their skills in a playful manner. A Drupal 7 platform was used, because of all the 3rd party integrations for games and quizzes. The platform also had to be accessible offline as part of round two, because many of the target schools are in rural areas.

Result

We built a prototype which was interactive and engaging. OUP SA was able to find funding, allowing them to keep the project going.
